Yesterday was my first official CrossFit WOD. Which just happen to be "Fran". I had forgotten which one "Fran" was, however, if I had know I might not have made that my first day. Apparently it is one of the toughest workouts. For those of you that don't know, "Fran" is a workout with Thrusters and Pull-ups 21 of each, 15 of each, and then 9 of each. This workout is done for time so you are not supposed to really rest between sets. (You will have to youtube what a Thruster is to understand.) Before we did this ridiculously crazy workout, we did a 30 min "warm up". I was so out of breath from the warm up, that I thought I was going to throw up. So when we got to the actual workout I felt like collapsing. Part way through I wanted to quit so badly and was hoping that the instructor would let me. But instead she told me to just take a breath relax, gave me a few mins and then had me start again. I finally finish 8 min and 23 sec later. At the end I was really glad that the instructor had me keep going. Although she gave me a break because it was my first class, having me complete the WOD made me feel really good about myself.
Thrusters are meant to be done with a bar bell & 65 lbs (95 for men). Well all I could do was the bar (33lbs) and I did jumping pull-ups because I do not have the upper body strength to do even one. Everyone has to start somewhere, I can't compare where I am at to anyone else. I just have to start at my level and work my way up.
The best part of the workout was that the actor Max Greenfield from the TV show "New Girl" was in the class as well. He came up to me at one point and we introduced ourselves to each other. He seemed like a very nice person and very approachable.
Needless to say I was moving a little slower today. Good thing it is my rest day! It was also my cheat day for the Paleo diet. I did not go too crazy with what I ate though. Most of the day was spent in Connecticut with Estelle's (the 92 year old lady I live with) daughter. It was a nice visit but pretty much took the whole day.
That is all for now!
